Bolton Incorporated Law Society (as it was called at the time), was instituted in 1826.
The first president of the Society is noted to be Mr H L Trafford who was in post from 1838 to 1844. The society has had a president for every year since, even through the war years of the last century.
Bolton Law Society has always been at the centre of the legal life of Bolton, with its members exercising their rights of audience in the magistrates’ court, some in the crown court, as well as at the coroner’s court and local police station.
The town’s many firms cover every legal issue and transaction type that its citizens require.
